Creatine: The Most Popular for a Reason

Ancient Egyptians built pyramids to mimic the way that sand is naturally blown by the wind into pyramid shapes throughout the desert. Because they stuck to Mother Nature's laws, the pyramids are world renown as some of the very strongest and most impressive displays of architectural engineering. Likewise, your body should be your pyramid. You should build and shape it according to the best wisdom and the best natural laws that you can find. There are, of course, many things that will contribute to optimal development and performance as you progress in your workout or fitness program, but one piece of counsel is almost universally followed among top athletes, you should look into using creatine.

Like the pyramids of Egypt, creatine is based on Nature; after all, it is 100% natural and occurs naturally in many foods. It is found in foods such as herring, salmon, tuna, and beef. In fact, your body even creates creatine. (You can't get more natural than that!) It is produced in the liver, pancreas, and kidneys, and is transported to the body's muscles through the bloodstream. Once it reaches the muscles, it is converted into phosphocreatine (creatine phosphate). This high-powered metabolite is used to regenerate the muscles' ultimate energy source, ATP (adenosine triphosphate).

Steroids and drugs are manufactured compounds, but creatine is 100% natural. Therefore it will never be banned or restricted from any sports, because it is and will always be a naturally occurring compound.

Creatine is such a powerful supplement to any athlete because it provides a much-needed edge over the competition. It can significantly increase lean muscle mass in just two weeks. It improves performance in high-intensity exercise by speeding up recovery rates and increasing energy levels. There is a reason why it is the most popular supplement among athletes. It wouldn't be surprising at all if there comes a time in the near future when all athletes will be using creatine to perform to their optimal level. Creatine's ability to enhance energy reserves in muscles comes from its muscle protein synthesizing action while minimizing protein breakdown. This occurs because creatine has the awesome effect of super-hydrating muscle cells with water. It enhances muscles' growth too- making muscle fibers bigger and stronger.

Quite a few studies have been done on creatine to figure out why and how it works so well. There have been over twenty double blind (meaning neither the researchers nor the subjects knew who was getting what), placebo-controlled studies conducted on creatine in the past five years. They proved that creatine increased energy levels, resulting in increased strength, endurance levels, and recovery rates. Another unexpected benefit attributed to creatine was discovered as well: creatine accelerates fat loss while building lean body mass!

Who needs creatine? Anyone who is ready to have more energy, build more muscle faster, and have more endurance should try supplementing with creatine monohydtrate. In addition, anyone who would like to be more toned by increasing lean muscle mass, recuperating faster, and losing that extra little fat roll should supplement with creatine monohydrate.

I have a terrible sunburn on my nose and cheeks and both arms. I put Olay Active Hydrating lotion on it just so it doesn't dry out. Is there anything else I can do/use to make sure it doesn't peel?

Sorry, if the sunburn is bad enough, nothing can stop the peeling....

Emu oil is made from the fat of a large bird called the Emu. These birds are native to Australia and history has it that this oil was used by the Aborigines for treatment of wounds, burns, scars, and muscle and joint paint. Today Emus are raised and harvested in the United States. They provide a rich lean meat that is fat free and low in cholesterol and a produces a remarkable skin care oil from the fat of the bird.

Emu oil is comprised of approximately 70% unsaturated fatty acids including an omega -6 and an omega-3 fatty acid. The cosmetic properties of Emu oil were studied at the University of Australia and their findings were outstanding. They found that it is a very effective moisturizer and offers skin softening and skin cell rejuvenating properties. Emu oil penetrates deep into the dermal layers of skin thus diminishing fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally it has anti-biotic and anti-inflammatory properties, which will help heal sunburn, skin rashes, eczema and other skin disorders. It is also non-comedogic, non-greasy, and hypo-allergenic.

The latest research in skin care indicates that essential fatty acids are important to achieve great skin and great hair. And that the best anti-aging formulas need to have essential fatty acids and omega-3 in their formula. This is according to Dr. Perriconne's latest best seller.

Emu oil is loaded with essential fatty acids and omega-3's. Addtionally, it has superb hydrating qualities, does not clog pores and kills bacteria. Emu oil can readily aid in diminishing fine lines and wrinkles.

is the lotion "hope in a jar"suitable for 16 year old?

my mom told me not to put too much stuff on my face when im still young. this lotion is so popular but will it be too much for me??
of course i dont have any wrinkles.
acutally i have completly clear skin, its just that its super dry. will this lotion help me?

I've heard really good things about the Philosophy "hope in a jar" even if you don't have fine lines or wrinkles it's best to start treating your skin well while you are young. It's a good facial cream so a little goes a long way! Why not go to a Philosophy counter at your local mall or Sephora and see if you can get a sample size to try before you buy that way you won't waste your money on something you can't use. I have super-sensitive skin so I have to be very careful what I use on it... I use ORIGINS or OLAY moisturizer on my combo-skin... I've been thinking about trying "hope in a jar" I've seen it advertised on QVC...

good luck

You can smell it in the air--the hope of spring, the Final 4, homemade sauerkraut...What? Homemade sauerkraut?! Aah yes, it's true. While daffodils are blooming and basketballs are bouncing, there is yet another indication that spring is nigh: CABBAGE GOES ON SALE! Keep a look out because it happens every year just about the time of St. Patrick's Day! Grocery stores in their attempts to get you to come on in and shop put out their promotional products, and just about the middle of March the cabbage goes on sale. Being the frugal soul I am, I look forward to this time to stock up on fresh cabbage so that I can begin my annual ritual of making homemade sauerkraut. Now, if you have never made your own sauerkraut, you are in for a treat. Not only is it fun, easy, and economical, it is great tasting.

The process for making your own sauerkraut is very easy, and you can make as much as you want, or as little as you want. For me, I usually shred approximately 20-25 pounds of cabbage and end up with 8-10 quarts of sauerkraut. For the purpose of this article, I will give you directions on how to make a small batch of sauerkraut, therefore, all you will need in the way of supplies are clean, glass fruit jars.

Here are your basic directions:

1. Remove and discard the outer leaves from the cabbage. Wash, drain, cut in halves or quarters, and discard the core (put in the compost bucket!! Nothing goes to waste!)

2. Shred 5 pounds of cabbage at a time with a shredder or sharp knife. I use my food processor with the slicing blade, and the slices come out perfect. Your slices of cabbage should be no thicker than a dime.

3. Put the 5 pounds of shredded cabbage in a bowl and sprinkle 3.5 tablespoons of pickling salt (not table salt!) over the cabbage and mix thoroughly with your hands. Press or stomp the cabbage with a potato masher until the mixture gets "juicy".

4. Pack into clean jars, pressing the cabbage down firmly with a wooden spoon. Fill your jars to within 1.5 to 2 inches from the tops. It takes approximately 2 pounds of cabbage to fill 1 quart jar. Be sure there is juice covering the cabbage!

5. Wipe off the jar top, then cover the cabbage with pads of cheesecloth. I use clean, white, old pieces of sheet, and this has worked perfectly fine for me. Tuck in the "cloth" so the edges are against the inside of the jar. Place a lid on the jar, but to not tighten completely.

6. Put jars on folded newspaper in a dark corner where the cabbage can ferment at room temperature. The ideal temperature is a constant 70*. Some juice may spill over, so that is the purpose of the newspapers. Let the cabbage ferment for about 10-14 days. Make sure that during the fermentation period that the cabbage is always covered with brine or juice. You may need to make up a weak brine consisting of 1 tablespoon of salt per 1 quart of water to pour over the cabbage if the cabbage is not covered.

7. Open your jar, taste and see. You should have a fine batch of sauerkraut. If you want the "kraut" to ferment a bit longer, just replace the lid...or get out a bratwurst and have a meal!

Making sauerkraut is very fun and easy. Although it may not be exactly the Final 4 or a tulip, cabbage is round like a basketball, and green like spring...and you'll have a tasty end to March Madness! If you would like further tips on how to can up your sauerkraut or how to make a crock-size batch of sauerkraut, please visit my blogs which are listed in the resource box!

There's definitely a good reason why so many people are buying leather living room furniture, specifically Italian furniture--this, even if one piece of them could cost you hundreds to thousands of dollars. After all, you are not just purchasing a fixture. You are buying quality, luxury, and elegance.

Defining Italian Furniture

Before you discover the benefits of purchasing leather living room furniture, you should know first what constitutes Italian leather. Now, a lot of companies proclaim themselves as manufacturers of Italian leather. It could be because their headquarters are located or registered in Italy. There's also the possibility that the material itself came from Italy.

In truth, the authentic leather living room furniture is made up of either Ostrich or cow hide. This is also referred to as full-grain leather. The skin of these animals is composed of many layers. The outermost portion is known to be the strongest of them and filled with luster. Moreover, when you touch the skin, you would not feel any marks, blemishes, or faults that would reduce the value of the leather.

Benefits of Buying Leather Living Room Furniture

Leather has its disadvantages. However, its benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. For one, leather is considered to be the most durable material available. When a sofa is made of leather, you are assured that it never goes out of shape no matter how many times you sit on it. It is also resistant to the changes in the environment. It doesn't accumulate any moisture, which unfortunately happens when you have a cotton-fabric sofa. Instead, leather can breathe into any type of climate.

Furthermore, during hot season such as summer or spring, the leather living room furniture can give you a sense of coolness that calms your nerves. During the winter, the leather emits hot sensations. You can attribute this to the cowhide itself, which serves as the first line of defense of the animal against the harsh environmental elements.

It's normal for families to turn over Italian furniture to their loved ones, particularly to their children. This is because despite the passage of time, the color hardly ever changes. It has a natural ability to resist color fades, a quality that is not found in other materials used for furniture.

Italian furniture has always looked so classy. Also, unknown to many, they can be very versatile. You can build a more earthly home. Any living room that has at least one leather living room furniture pieces achieves a cozier ambiance. They can also combine with retro and other contemporary fixtures.

Do you know that you won't have any trouble dealing with leather? This is because they are very easy to maintain. If you have darker-colored pieces, you can conveniently hide the dirt and stain. To get rid of them, you can just use a damp cloth and water. There are also special cleaning kits that you can take advantage of. If you want to bring back their shine, you can do so in a matter of minutes.

Bed Head: After party smoothing cream or Control Freak Serum?

In winter it is normal we take hot baths. Often, as a matter of comfort, choose a very high temperature for the water with which shall wash our hair. Preventing this abuse water temperature will eliminate a major cause of problems in her hair. A very hot water removes the natural oils too much of the scalp and wires.
Do not leave home without drying the hair very well. The cold affects the wires and causes them to become more brittle. If you use the hair dryer, prefer to do this only after using a cream term activated to protect hair from the damaging effects of the dryer.

Using a lot of elements that drowns her hair like hats, caps, hoods and other things can also stimulate an increase in the activity of the sebaceous glands of the scalp and promote the emergence of fungi, bacteria or even dandruff.

If your hair begins to fall a lot, do a hydration treatment to restructure their hair from root to tip, or, in serious cases, seek a dermatologist.

If you have long hair should be more careful still. The tips dry out over the winter and need constant moisture. If dyed worry even more with the possibility that their hairs are weak and brittle Always use creams repairers and always keep your hair hydrated.

His hair wavy Remember to have a hand in styling bunches to keep that look like goose bumps and uncontrolled volume away from you. However, if you do straightening with strong chemicals like formaldehyde; the best thing is to find a good hairdresser to indicate the most suitable products for your hair type and products you used in smoothing.

Bedsores are skin ulcers that appear in areas constantly subjected to pressure. Bedridden patients, those with paralysis and/or spinal cord injuries who can't change their position often develop bedsores at pressure points in the lower back, buttocks, elbows, knees, shoulders, heels and ankles. Other high risk groups are adults over 60, those with poor circulation, malnourished patients, and heavy individuals. Bedsores develop as a result of constant pressure on certain parts of the body, most commonly the bony protuberances such as elbows and heels. On traditional mattresses, these points come to bear inordinate amounts of body weight, because most beds lack the pressure distribution properties of memory foam or other more advanced materials. The development of a bedsore (or pressure sore) in an elderly or bedridden loved one can be a scary ordeal. Bedsores are painful and often require months of treatment before they heal. Bedsores can also be fatal if not cared for properly; therefore, it is important that family members are extremely involved in the treatment process.

Early sign of a bed sore is a red rash that looks much like a sunburn. If left untreated, full blown bed sores develop, resulting in open wounds with drainage, infections and even death. Bed sores can be successfully treated by providing air flow under the body and by removing moisture. As always, prevention is the best cure. But even fully developed bed sores can be cured by the use of natural sheepskin bed pads, heel wraps, etc. The bedsore should be cleaned with Saline solution and wrapped with an occlusive dressing. Occlusive dressing is a clear transparent bandage that can seal itself to the wound and is found at your local medical supply store. The bandage should also be left on for a few days before it is changed. It is recommended to keep your skin clean and dry. People who sweat heavily or who are incontinent are more likely to develop pressure ulcers. But do not go overboard. Having excessively dry skin can lead to sores, too. If you have dry skin, use a moisturizer after you bathe.

Prevention, however, is your best defense against bedsores. But the paralyzed or crippled patient cannot do this alone. He or she needs the support of his family, friends or relatives in the absence of a nurse. People who suffer from bedsores are usually deficient in a number of nutrients, especially zinc and vitamins A, E, ata balanced diet of which 70 percent is raw fruits and vegetables. Drink liquids (steam-distilled water, herbal teas, sugar-free Juices) around the clock to keep the colon clean. Eliminate animal fats, junk food, processed foods, fried food, and sugar. Get your fiber from oat bran Or ground flaxseeds. Fiber prevents constipation and absorbs dangerous toxins. The common thing that herbalists recommend is the application of myrrh to bedsores because of its astringent and antiseptic properties. Before you use this however, it should be tested on a small area of your skin to make sure that it doesn't causing further irritation, and it shouldn't ever be applied to an open sore.

Skin care problem and need some help!!?

I am 20 years old with combination skin. Its oily in the t-zone but inside is pretty dry which give my skin rough texture. I also have breakout. Right now I am using dior skincare hydraction set. I was wondering if this will be too strong for me? I dont wear make up also but I dont want to start using something that is too strong because I am afraid that in the future nothing will work for me. Please recommend anything that is best for me.
Also, I cant stop touching my face and picking on my acne will that be problem?

Don't pick your face, it will make it worse. I know this sounds simple but you should try just wetting your face and putting aloe vera on it every night and every morning. It works! It also moisture's your skin without it breaking out.

clinique youth surge as a moisturizer?

i'm only 14 but when i bought some clinique products today i got it free. it's an age decelerating moisturizer but i was wondering if i could still use it just as an every day moisturizer?

Yes, that would be fine, as long as it doesn't irritate your skin. Do a small test patch on your neck and keep an eye out for signs of irritation. If it seems to make your skin blotchy or itchy, discontinue use.

Where a man can be skinny or fat, a woman can be skinny, slim, well-proportioned, voluptuous, curvaceous, buxom or plump. With so many looks for men to choose from, when it comes to the kind of women they'd like to date, they can be fussy. How, then, will you know that you're the type of woman that your man will be interested in? Here are some ways to help you determine the answer to this question.

Look at his ex-girlfriends

Although it may hurt your pride, one of the best ways to know if you look like your man's type is to look at his ex-girlfriends. Most men admit that their ex-girlfriends have had some physical trait in common and it can be anything from having wavy hair or nice legs to being shorter or buxom. If he shows you his photo album, take note of the kind of clothes his ex-girlfriends wore " if they all wore short skirts or dresses, then he might be the kind of man who likes a woman to have nice legs; if they all showed their cleavage, he probably likes buxom women.

How does he like you to dress?

This question is easier to answer when you're already in a relationship because you'll be in a position to watch out for these clues:

* When does he compliment you on what you wear?

* Take him shopping with you and observe the type of clothes he suggests you wear.

* When he is checking out other women (which you know he does), note what they're wearing.

* Keep trying various outfits until you hit the look that makes him sit up and take notice. If you're comfortable with the look, then expect him to take an active interest in you very soon.

If you're not yet dating, you could be brave and ask the man you're interested in, outright, about how he likes his girlfriend to dress. Some men can be specific about everything from a woman's breast size and eye colour to the cut of her jeans and choice of hair accessories. Beware that, since he's this choosy, you might find it hard to keep up with his demands.

Immediately after a baby is born, his skin is soft and sensitive, and his coloring may alarm you. If he has a purple cast to his skin, this is likely to be from blood vessels that show through skin that is still thin. Other babies have a faint yellow cast to their skin, a sign of jaundice which is common in newborns. Your baby may also have tiny raised bumps that will eventually go away after a few weeks.

Bathing a Newborn

During the first couple of weeks of a baby's life, you may choose to sponge bathe her with a damp cloth rather than submerge her in water"at least until her umbilical cord falls off on its own. You don't need to use soap. Use plain water to gently wipe her off, starting with her face, her scalp, and the rest of her body. Take extra care around the sensitive genital area.

After her umbilical cord has fallen off, you'll probably find that washing her in the kitchen sink is easier than bending over a bathtub. If you can afford one, purchase a plastic baby bathtub that will hold her in a semi-reclining position and make it easier to bathe her by holding her in place. Wet babies are slippery, so if you have to hold her up, get another adult to assist so you can keep both hands on the baby to prop her up. Choose a mild soap formulated for babies.

Help yourself with Clinique and Clinique Youth Surge

What do I do for dry, chapped, cracked hands?

I live in a very dry climate and my hands are always dry--even when there's moisture in the air. I've tried everything from Vaseline Intensive Care to Gold Bond to a cream with Oxygen in it. Someone recommended DermAware's Mega-Vital Body Lotion which helps for a few minutes. Davies Gate Garden Made Hand Salve is better, but it takes time to absorb. Wearing gloves at night helps, but during the day I still have to do something after washing my hands or putting wet laundry in the dryer. Supposedly the cheaper, greasier products work, but I haven't had much success with them. I always feel like there's excess no matter how I massage it in. Not pleasant when shaking hands. The products by Bert's Bees don't work. Please, any advice at all?

try this product. I don't know where you live and if it'll be possible to get this stuff, but this is a great product.

5 Helpful Tips for Constipation Treatment –Part 2

In the first part of these series on constipation help, we examined the causes of constipation and also stated one of the solutions. In this concluding part, we will be seeing the five various tips leading to the cure of constipation.

1. Exercise

Individuals who do a lot more exercise are often better physically that those who live a sedentary life. They look younger, brighter, their eyes sparkle, they have boundless energy and are generally healthier. They have a limitless zest for life and as a result of all these can fight diseases because they have a vibrant, healthy immune system. Recent stats have proved that people who lead sedentary lives are more easily prone to constipation that those who are active. So, just getting up and walking around the block in the morning is good enough to get your bowels moving.

2. Hyperosmolar Laxatives

These are compounds that can't be digested or absorbed into the intestine. As a result they remain in the colon to retain the water that is in the colon. Hence, there is a softening of the stool as a result of the presence of moisture. Examples of this are sorbitol, lactulose and polyethylene glycol. These laxatives are only available by prescription. They have side effects –hence the restriction in access to it- and are used for the long term treatment of constipation. Part of the side effects it has on the body is abdominal bloating and flatulence. This occurs as a result of the laxative being digested by bacteria and its subsequent turning into gas. If this continues, a reduction in the dosage usually reduces the incidence of bloating and flatulence. In some cases however, the gas may reduce in volume by itself.

3. Saline Laxatives

These are laxatives that are made up ions that can't be absorbed by the colon. Examples of such ions are phosphate, citrate which can be found in the following combinations: sodium phosphate, and magnesium hydroxide. They function by drawing water into the colon which in return softens that stool. This constipation help method has its disadvantages. The disadvantages of using saline laxatives are people with weak kidneys may find it hard to expel resulting in the formation of kidney stones. This happens if it is used over a long period of time. Thus, short term usage in perfect order. It may also cause diarrhea which may lead to dehydration if the amount of fluid lost by the body is not replaced immediately. Saline laxatives are found in solutions such as Milk of magnesia or Epsom Salt.

4. Stimulant LaxativesThese incite the small intestine and colon muscles to push their substance faster. This they do by increasing the water content in the small intestine or inhibiting the amount of water absorbed by the colon. These laxatives can be found in Castor oil, Senna and Aloe Vera oils. They are quite useful in alleviating and curing constipation but also has its disadvantages. Because of its potency, it can instigate diarrhea which would result in dehydration if the individual does not take liquids. They can also cause intestinal cramping and long term intensive use can result in colon damage and worse constipation. Finally, not all of the constipation help methods are applicable. You can either consult your physician or get a a quick, fast relief from constipation. The methods mentioned above could take quite a few days before you can start seeing results.
