I'm looking for songs that have a heavy, slow beat that is ideal for dancing. Like Sour Cherry by The Kills?

The Hardest Button to Button - the White Stripes

Heck, a lot of stuff by the White Stripes. Icky Thump.

For those who have no idea what I'm referring to, Laffy Taffy is a chewy candy that is one of the most famous candy brands in America. Outside America, taffy is also known as toffee. Either way, it's sweet, sticky and extremely popular among big and small kids alike.

The history of Laffy Taffy began in 1971 when they were produced as a tie-in to a movie that had been released that year. The movie did alright but Laffy Taffy stayed on. Each of these candy wrappers had a joke printed on it. This was done so that the word Laffy would always be made in relation to laughing. Children of the time played a part in the history of Laffy Taffy too – they sent jokes to the confectionary company, which then printed the best ones on the wrappers.

However, the sweet had already existed since the 1800's, much longer before the history of Laffy Taffy began. Taffy itself was first written of in 1817 but no one knows if it came from England, Scotland or France. The Scot version of taffy is known as tablet as it is so hard it has to be broken with a small metal hammer.

The soft, chewy candy that has come to be known as taffy nowadays made its appearance in the mid to late 1800's. It was simple to produce and was sold wrapped in wax paper. Taffy pulling, the process by which taffy is made enjoyed status as a popular social event in the 1870's. Young people of the time could socialize and court without fear of reprimand.

Laffy Taffy currently is available in flavors such as chocolate mousse, grape, cherry, banana, blue raspberry, strawberry, and sour apple. Its popularity was revived in 2005 with the release of another movie centered on an eccentric candy-maker.

I want something that will protect my face, moisturize (my skin is always a little dry) but still enable me to get some colour or a healthy glow.

How would red velvet cake with butter creme icing taste?

My daughter's b-day is on Sunday and I still haven't figured out what kind of cake to buy for it. How does this combination sound?

That would be great!
I also like red velvet with cream cheese icing, it is a little lighter

You may be of classic type or may be a dude of trendiest and latest fashion. Hairstyles and fashions of hair cut and decor are definitely a part of your personal fashion sense and styling sense. It can not be complete without that thing. For any kind of styling and setting a trend you have to be sure that your hair texture and hair quality is supporting the fact. For that you have to have a good and healthy hair. It is essential. Good and healthy hair can only be got by a through yet simple hair care routine. It is very essential to keep your manly locks looking great. Below there are complete hair care tips on the washing, toning, conditioning, and grooming and styling procedure. This is only for men's hair.

First step of washing is shampooing- choose a good quality aromatic shampoo that can attract and please others. It must have a soothing and smooth after effect. The most important thing is the pH balance of your shampoo. It determines the nature of your shampoo that is for dry hair or for oily hair etc. For clean and healthy hair flavor of that is not important but the pH balance is crucial. It must be examined. Shampoo your hair and rinse it carefully with cold water. Complete rinsing is very important as it cleanse the hair completely. No residual. Using shampoo twice is for good of your hair. Somebody thinks that it is not necessary to use it twice. It is not a ploy of the shampoo companies but it is needful. The first time you are applying it on your hair the shampoo then makes your scalp ready for wash and it starts the process. But the second one completes the job. It cleans your hair and scalp by loosening up all the cool products and make over your hair into a great looking hair.

Then comes toning of your hair shafts. Massage your hair and scalp while shampooing. With the finger balls massage the scalp gently. It is called 'spider doing push-ups' fashion. It is vital and critical in your hair care routine. It helps to loosening the sebaceous glands of your hair scalp and secrets the sebum, which is a natural form of essential fatty acids. It feels good and soothing and condition your hair and tone up your hair. There are lots of ways of massaging for different types of hair. For long hair circular massaging can be avoidable. If you want to avoid a conditioner then this process is must as it releases the oils from your hair. Do not rub your hair to dry but towel dry it and avoid the tangles.

Now comes conditioning. If your one is dry and coarse then use a conditioner or a moisturizing creme for men's hair. You can opt for a herbal one. Chemical commercial conditioners are also available I the market. For herbal choice you can make the stuff a your own home. It is safe and natural.

is the lotion "hope in a jar"suitable for 16 year old?

my mom told me not to put too much stuff on my face when im still young. this lotion is so popular but will it be too much for me??
of course i dont have any wrinkles.
acutally i have completly clear skin, its just that its super dry. will this lotion help me?

I've heard really good things about the Philosophy "hope in a jar" even if you don't have fine lines or wrinkles it's best to start treating your skin well while you are young. It's a good facial cream so a little goes a long way! Why not go to a Philosophy counter at your local mall or Sephora and see if you can get a sample size to try before you buy that way you won't waste your money on something you can't use. I have super-sensitive skin so I have to be very careful what I use on it... I use ORIGINS or OLAY moisturizer on my combo-skin... I've been thinking about trying "hope in a jar" I've seen it advertised on QVC...

good luck

You can smell it in the air--the hope of spring, the Final 4, homemade sauerkraut...What? Homemade sauerkraut?! Aah yes, it's true. While daffodils are blooming and basketballs are bouncing, there is yet another indication that spring is nigh: CABBAGE GOES ON SALE! Keep a look out because it happens every year just about the time of St. Patrick's Day! Grocery stores in their attempts to get you to come on in and shop put out their promotional products, and just about the middle of March the cabbage goes on sale. Being the frugal soul I am, I look forward to this time to stock up on fresh cabbage so that I can begin my annual ritual of making homemade sauerkraut. Now, if you have never made your own sauerkraut, you are in for a treat. Not only is it fun, easy, and economical, it is great tasting.

The process for making your own sauerkraut is very easy, and you can make as much as you want, or as little as you want. For me, I usually shred approximately 20-25 pounds of cabbage and end up with 8-10 quarts of sauerkraut. For the purpose of this article, I will give you directions on how to make a small batch of sauerkraut, therefore, all you will need in the way of supplies are clean, glass fruit jars.

Here are your basic directions:

1. Remove and discard the outer leaves from the cabbage. Wash, drain, cut in halves or quarters, and discard the core (put in the compost bucket!! Nothing goes to waste!)

2. Shred 5 pounds of cabbage at a time with a shredder or sharp knife. I use my food processor with the slicing blade, and the slices come out perfect. Your slices of cabbage should be no thicker than a dime.

3. Put the 5 pounds of shredded cabbage in a bowl and sprinkle 3.5 tablespoons of pickling salt (not table salt!) over the cabbage and mix thoroughly with your hands. Press or stomp the cabbage with a potato masher until the mixture gets "juicy".

4. Pack into clean jars, pressing the cabbage down firmly with a wooden spoon. Fill your jars to within 1.5 to 2 inches from the tops. It takes approximately 2 pounds of cabbage to fill 1 quart jar. Be sure there is juice covering the cabbage!

5. Wipe off the jar top, then cover the cabbage with pads of cheesecloth. I use clean, white, old pieces of sheet, and this has worked perfectly fine for me. Tuck in the "cloth" so the edges are against the inside of the jar. Place a lid on the jar, but to not tighten completely.

6. Put jars on folded newspaper in a dark corner where the cabbage can ferment at room temperature. The ideal temperature is a constant 70*. Some juice may spill over, so that is the purpose of the newspapers. Let the cabbage ferment for about 10-14 days. Make sure that during the fermentation period that the cabbage is always covered with brine or juice. You may need to make up a weak brine consisting of 1 tablespoon of salt per 1 quart of water to pour over the cabbage if the cabbage is not covered.

7. Open your jar, taste and see. You should have a fine batch of sauerkraut. If you want the "kraut" to ferment a bit longer, just replace the lid...or get out a bratwurst and have a meal!

Making sauerkraut is very fun and easy. Although it may not be exactly the Final 4 or a tulip, cabbage is round like a basketball, and green like spring...and you'll have a tasty end to March Madness! If you would like further tips on how to can up your sauerkraut or how to make a crock-size batch of sauerkraut, please visit my blogs which are listed in the resource box!

There are several natural acne treatments for acne and acne scar removal. The acne normally outbreaks during puberty; as at this time body produces hormone more actively. These hyperactive hormones cause excessive sebum in the skin. This haunting skin condition passes out but what it leaves behind are permanent and subtle acne scars. Scar removal can be carried out naturally through inexpensive procedures and at dermatologist's clinic that cost a lot.

There are many different types of over the counter scar treatment products available. Commonly used products are the topical use of vitamin E, scar creams based on vitamin E or onion extract like Mederma, cocoa butter, cucumber butter, lime juice, Aloe Vera, Bio Oil, skin remodeling copper peptides and so on. The truth however is that, in contradiction to the abundant positive reviews, most of these natural home remedies are not effective at all.

Treatment:

1. Rub vitamin E into your face with some roseship seed oil. After a few months of doing this, you will be able to notice that the acne scar tissue will soften and the scars will slowly diminish. The best part of this natural treatment to cure acne scars is the fact that it isn't very pricey and won't hurt one bit!

2. The cool cucumber helps in the removal of scar tissues also. A paste is made of the cucumber and is applied directly onto the scars. This helps the scars to smoothen out after a few applications left overnight.

3. Technically speaking, anti acne scar treatment kits such as Zenmed do not cure acne scars completely. There are no acne scars cure at this moment except for laser acne scar surgery which only reduces the acne scar to make it less visible.

4. Also try not to touch the injured area, bacteria from your hands can infect the wound which can cause further damage, leading to a bigger scar. Scars shrink with time so worrying about the size of your scar is not a big thing, but most people generally do not like the appearance of scars which is what makes scar treatments a very hot business today.

5. One acne scars treatment is laser treatment. This is one of the least painful treatments to undergo, because it does not cause bleeding or scraping of the skin. In fact, it feels more like a rubber band getting snapped across your skin. Usually these treatments can cost around $300 per visit.

6. Dermabrasion is a simple procedure. In this procedure, scars, wrinkles and pigmentation are treated. A small abrasive wheel or brush rotating at a high speed is used by the doctor to abrade or remove the skin with the wheel.

7. This treatment helps to fix atrophic scarring. During this treatment injections of collagen or subcutaneous fat is placed underneath the scars. This helps to raise them up to the surface and make them blend into the skin around the face. You may need this treatment more than once.

i have a dry scalp apparently, does any commercial shampoo/conditioner actually work?

whenever i get my hair cut, the stylist always compliments me on how healthy my hair looks. which is weird bc i have a really dry scalp! i've been using herbal essences "hello hydration" for a while but nothing has changed. i'm thinking about switching to their "no flakin' way" which is for dandruff--but i've just got a dry scalp...not dandruff. does this all mean i need an intense moisturizer or an anti-dandruff...or is there really no difference between the two?

danruff shampoos will dry ur scalp even more. They have a gel by Neurogena (I don't remember the name sorry). But my doctor recommended it. You can find it any local department store...

Stretch marks are actually small tears that form in the tissue that supports the skin and helps it stretch. Stretch marks represent the tearing or separation of collagen from the skin when tearing occurs. Stretch marks are not harmful or painful and usually fade over time.

Stretch marks starts as red lines on the skin that are slightly lifted. The color of the stretch marks depend on the color of the skin of the person has it. They may sometimes look pink, reddish brown or dark brown.

It makes sense consulting your health care specialist before applying any lotions for pregnancy stretch marks, as it may be possible that some medications such as steroids or hormones may be causing the stretch marks.

Pregnant women usually become so obsess in finding ways to prevent stretch marks from occurring. It is actually natural to appear as their bellies and breast expands and widen. But it doesn't mean that they won't find ways to prevent and treat stretch marks. Yes, the skin of pregnant women stretched to the maximum level but of course, they can figure out some way or ways to do to prevent stretch marks before it appears.

Beside these herbal stretch marks treatments, there are many lotions for pregnancy stretch marks removal. These creams contain vitamin C and vitamin E, which moisturizes your skin. However, it is not evident whether these creams completely remove stretch marks, though for sure they can be used to fade the appearance of lines. Although, these home remedies are not harmful, you should consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding or are pregnant.

You can always prevent stretch marks with exercise and water; make sure you are maintaining healthy skin! Mama always told you to drink plenty of water. Maybe she knew this: it helps prevent stretch marks, too! Proper water intake keeps your skin soft and less likely to develop stretch marks. Caffeine can increase your risk of stretch marks. If you're stuck on your caffeinated coffee or tea, make sure you balance the fluids. Drink just as much - or more - water as you drink coffee, tea or soda.

Stretch marks seem impossible to deal with. You can't just throw them away. Just listen to my own story. Now that I have had a child, I inescapably have to deal with stretch marks around my breast area. But, this is completely normal if you breast feed your child.

Various stretch mark treatments are available for stretch marks removal like ointments, the most popular of which is cocoa butter. You may also use Vitamin E oil or other ointments. If the stretch marks are really severe and these treatments do not help, consult your health care specialist, as there are laser treatments, dermabrasion, tretenoin, isotretenoin, adepalin and many such methods are being discovered.

Cocoa butter has been used over the years and proved to be quite successful. You may also apply Vitamin E, lavender oil, olive oil or any other moisturizer. Creams containing alpha hydroxyl acid may help reduce stretch marks.

Laser treatment is an expensive but most effective method of stretch mark removal. It can remove the spots below the belly button. Massage with creams containing AHAs (alpha hydrox acids) helps in making skin soft and supple.

Is Creme Fresh actually sour cream or whipped cream?

If it's in a recipe, which type of milk product is this actually?
(Top contributor in the cats section mostly, not the cooking section, LOL).

Thanks everyone, this explains it for me.

i find Creme more acidic, than sweet,,, 1/3 yougurt. 2/3 sourcream, touch of sugar,,,,, wisk, do not blend,,,,, as the yougurt will seperate,,,,,, you gotta admit the mixes are endless,,,,,, mayo and sour cream rules

your a top giver here,,, you already knew that/these?

Wrinkles will form in your face as a product of these problems and some of those wrinkles could be quite deep. In addition to that, you may have problems because of overexposure to the sun in your younger years.

If you are having a tough time dealing with the aging process, a pleasant face wrinkles cream can help to smooth your skin and turn back time just a little bit.

There are several diverse means in which you could deal with your wrinkles. Along with some deep wrinkle cream, you may also discover relief from these wrinkles from processes such as dermabrasion, laser surgery, micro dermabrasion and chemical peels.

Most folks, however, are not in a position to or do not have the appeal to go through such drastic means just to get rid of some of their wrinkles. It is a much better choice for them to attempt to smooth out their skin by the use of some wrinkle creme. For that, you have a few diverse choices of anti aging skin products.

Your doctor will be able to give you a prescription for retinoid skin cream, one that is derived from the vitamin A. This provides a very sturdy antioxidants to your skin which will help to remove any of the free radicals which cause impairment to the skin. Unfortunately, there can be a number of pretty bad side effects from this particular prescription so many folks opt for an over-the-counter deep wrinkle cream or perhaps one that is made of natural-based products.

Do these deep wrinkle creams work? While some wrinkles cream only increases the amount of collagen in your face, therefore not totally erasing these deep indents in your face; there are other technologies that have emerged that have been proven to erase the deeply embeded indents in your face. Stem cell technology has been found as the lastest way to reverse aging.

There are 148 anti-aging genes in our body that control skin function. Major cosmetic companies strive to find a single compound or cosmetic that can affect just one or two genes and if they discover one, they build an entire line of products around their discovery.

One of the compounds used in Signals was scientifically proven to positively affect over 22 genes-something never before achieved according to the independent laboratory that tested Signals. The potential implications of these results go well beyond just the cosmetic industry. These gene expressions will dramatically help to reverse the aging cells of your skin and allow those cells to match the youthful cells of a 20-year old.

can i mix half of the color nourishing cream and half developer in a bowl and rest i use next time when needed

Yeah. As long as the other half that isn't used don't touch each other (and thusly no chemical reaction is formed) you can come back to it and use it later (unless there is an expiration date).

So you are finally planning to come to Ukraine and you wondering what to expect from Ukrainian culture, from your Ukrainian girlfriend...No need to wonder about it... We will give you an idea of Ukrainian culture by telling you about the most popular Ukrainian dishes that your girlfriend can cook for you ( Yes, every girl in Ukraine can cook!!) or that you can taste in any local restaurant and you simply HAVE to try them while in Ukraine!!

The best example of Ukrainian cuisine is "borsch". Borsch is a beet-based soup that can contain as many as 20 different ingredients and depending on the region and season you can enjoy red or green borsch – red one being the most popular one.

INGREDIENTS

400g beef
2 average red beets
200g cabbage
4 little potatoes
1 carrot 2 onions
2 tomatoes
salt and pepper, to taste
parsley
dill
spring onions

Potatoes are used in Ukraine as often as rice is in Japan. Popular dishes on the Ukrainian table are mashed potatoes and "deruny". "Deruny" are potato pancakes that are easy to cook, very nourishing and tasty. You can eat them either hot or cold. And because they are so easy to make you can surprise your Ukrainian girlfriend buy cooking them for her!! Potato puree is another dish that is easy to make and that is served as a favorite background for various delicacies and meat dishes.

INGREDIENTS

3 Large potatoes
1 or 2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tblsp. grated onion
2 tblsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
few grains of pepper
1/2 tsp. baking powder

1) Peel, wash and grate potatoes on a fine grater and pour off some of the potato water. Add all of the ingredients and mix them thoroughly. Drop the mixture with a spoon in small rounds about the size of small pancakes onto a hot, well greased frying pan. Bake over a moderate heat about five minutes on each side, or until they are well browned and tender. Serve very hot with sour cream in bed for breakfast after a hot night with your girlfriend.

While in Ukraine, make sure you taste all the dishes we have mentioned here and you will get one more reason for marrying a UKRAINIAN lady! Or you might even decide to cook it yourself following one of our recipes! In any case, ENJOY YOUR MEAL!

Coconut sticky black rice recipe please!?

I saw a chef make sticky coconut black rice and it looked really chewy, not like porridgey rice pudding. Any hints? I have black glutinous rice, with no idea how to use it

Black Sticky Rice (Kao Niow Dahm)

Ingredients

2 cups whole-grain black (purple) sticky rice (or use white sticky rice aka glutinous rice)
2 cups (or 1-14oz can), coconut milk, Chao Koh or Mae Ploy brand
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds and/or toasted unsweetened shredded coconut (optional)
Strawberries and mint leaves (optional)

Preparation

Measure the rice into a bowl; run your fingers through the rice and check for any pebbles or other noticeable impurities. Rinse the rice a few times until the water clears. Cover with at least 2 inches of water and allow to soak 4 or more hours, or overnight. The grains will absorb water and grow in size.

When ready to cook, drain the rice and place in a heat-proof bowl with room enough for the rice grains to expand about a third more than its uncooked bulk. Add a small amount of boiling water, just enough to barely cover the rice grains. Place the bowl on a steamer rack and steam over medium heat about 30-40 minutes. If you do not have a steamer, use a large pot in which the bowl fits. Place a trivet on the bottom along with 2-3 inches of water. Bring to a boil. Balance the bowl with the rice on the trivet and add hot water to the rice. Cover and steam. Steaming the rice with a small volume of water will leave the top layer of grains intact, retaining a chewy texture which pops in your mouth like nuts. If you wish the rice to be softer, add more water to the rice.

While the rice is steaming, make the coconut sauce by heating the coconut milk, sugar and salt together in a saucepan. Stir to dissolve the sugar and salt and blend the sauce until smooth. Keep warm.

When the rice is cooked and while still hot out of the steamer, add about half of the sauce or enough to thoroughly coat the rice. Stir and mix well. The rice should be wet but not swimming in sauce. Let stand 15-20 minutes to allow the flavorings to be absorbed. Reserve the remaining sauce for spooning over the rice before serving.

The flavored rice can be molded into a round mound on a serving plate and decorated with toasted sesame seeds and/or coconut shreds, sliced strawberries and mint leaves for color. Or dish into individual serving bowls or custard cups, topped with the reserved sauce, toasted seeds and coconut and a mint leaf.

For a wetter pudding like texture, the rice may alternatively be cooked by boiling, the same way as you would regular rice. Use 2 1/2 to 3 cups of water to each cup of rice. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer and cook partially covered until the grains are cooked and surrounded by a thick sauce, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking and burning. Add sugar to sweeten to your liking. Stir well, cover and place on lowest heat setting for another 5-10 minutes. Make the sauce less sweet but more salty for contrast with the already sweetened rice. When ready to serve, dish the rice into individual serving bowls and dribble some sauce over each serving.

Serve warm or at room temperature.

(*-*)

Lean, juicy beef, mutton, and veal, form the basis of all good soups; therefore it is advisable to procure those pieces which afford the richest succulence, and such as are fresh-killed. Stale meat renders them bad, and fat is not so well adapted for making them. The principal art in composing good rich soup, is so to proportion the several ingredients that the flavour of one shall not predominate over another, and that all the articles of which it is composed, shall form an agreeable whole. To accomplish this, care must be taken that the roots and herbs are perfectly well cleaned, and that the water is proportioned to the quantity of meat and other ingredients. Generally a quart of water may be allowed to a pound of meat for soups, and half the quantity for gravies. In making soups or gravies, gentle stewing or simmering is incomparably the best. It may be remarked, however, that a really good soup can never be made but in a well-closed vessel, although, perhaps, greater wholesomeness is obtained by an occasional exposure to the air. Soups will, in general, take from three to six hours doing, and are much better prepared the day before they are wanted. When the soup is cold, the fat may be much more easily and completely removed; and when it is poured off, care must be taken not to disturb the settlings at the bottom of the vessel, which are so fine that they will escape through a sieve. A tamis is the best strainer, and if the soup is strained while it is hot, let the tamis or cloth be previously soaked in cold water. Clear soups must be perfectly transparent, and thickened soups about the consistence of cream. To thicken and give body to soups and gravies, potato-mucilage, arrow-root, bread-raspings, isinglass, flour and butter, barley, rice, or oatmeal, in a little water rubbed well together, are used. A piece of boiled beef pounded to a pulp, with a bit of butter and flour, and rubbed through a sieve, and gradually incorporated with the soup, will be found an excellent addition. When the soup appears to be too thin or too weak , the cover of the boiler should be taken off, and the contents allowed to boil till some of the watery parts have evaporated; or some of the thickening materials, above mentioned, should be added. When soups and gravies are kept from day to day in hot weather, they should be warmed up every day, and put into fresh scalded pans or tureens, and placed in a cool cellar. In temperate weather, every other day may be sufficient.

Various herbs and vegetables are required for the purpose of making soups and gravies. Of these the principal are, Scotch barley, pearl barley, wheat flour, oatmeal, bread-raspings, pease, beans, rice, vermicelli, macaroni, isinglass, potato-mucilage, mushroom or mushroom ketchup, champignons, parsnips, carrots, beetroot, turnips, garlic, shalots and onions. Sliced onions, fried with butter and flour till they are browned, and then rubbed through a sieve, are excellent to heighten the colour and flavour of brown soups and sauces, and form the basis of many of the fine relishes furnished by the cook. The older and drier the onion, the stronger will be its flavour. Leeks, cucumber, or burnet vinegar; celery or celery-seed pounded. The latter, though equally strong, does not impart the delicate sweetness of the fresh vegetable; and when used as a substitute, its flavour should be corrected by the addition of a bit of sugar. Cress-seed, parsley, common thyme, lemon thyme, orange thyme, knotted marjoram, sage, mint, winter savoury, and basil. As fresh green basil is seldom to be procured, and its fine flavour is soon lost, the best way of preserving the extract is by pouring wine on the fresh leaves.

For the seasoning of soups, bay-leaves, tomato, tarragon, chervil, burnet, allspice, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, clove, mace, black and white pepper, essence of anchovy, lemon-peel, and juice, and Seville orange-juice, are all taken. The latter imparts a finer flavour than the lemon, and the acid is much milder. These materials, with wine, mushroom ketchup, Harvey's sauce, tomato sauce, combined in various proportions, are, with other ingredients, manipulated into an almost endless variety of excellent soups and gravies. Soups, which are intended to constitute the principal part of a meal, certainly ought not to be flavoured like sauces, which are only designed to give a relish to some particular dish.
